I was born in Stoke-On-Trent, and for most of my adult life (well, 28 years of it), I worked in a contract electronics manufacturing facility. Sadly, the facility closed some years ago, and the buildings have been demolished. A Distribution Warehouse now stands on the site.

Among other job roles, I was a Quality Engineer, rising to Quality Manager and most recently Business Improvement Manager. During my time on the site, I was responsible for the introduction of Statistical Process Control to the shop floor, including devising and delivering training to shop floor employees. I was also one of the first two Six Sigma Black Belts to be trained and certified, and I gained a Fellowship in Lean Manufacturing at the same time.

My next career move was to spend 4 years in the role of Senior Business Analyst (Six Sigma Black Belt) in Marks & Spencer Money, a Financial Services organization. I worked as part of the team responsible for the introduction of Six Sigma to the business. I was also in charge of the Green Belt programme, overseeing the training, certification and mentoring of the Green Belts. During this time, I moved to North Wales, finally settling in my current location of Rhes-Y-Cae.

Two years ago, I decided to set up my own business, as The Mountain Wordsmith. Why The Mountain Wordsmith? Well, Rhes-Y-Cae is on Halkyn Mountain, and is such a lovely place. There are beautiful views of the wild moorlands and the mountains (including the famous Moel Famau) from the windows of my house, so why not?

I am a member of the People Per Hour (PPH) website for freelancers (PeoplePerHour.com), and my profile is available through that site, along with my latest feedback (5 stars, very positive).
